Temora
Tuesday morning it was time to hook up and leave Junee. We had spent two days there and it was a great town. So we headed up Goldfields Way to Temora. The van park in town had grassed sites but was right on the main road. We checked out the airport van park. The whole area was grassed and it was quiet, apart from the odd plane coming and going. But that was a bit of entertainment and there were no flights at night. So we stayed there.
We chose not to visit the Flight Museum or the rural one at the information centre. By that stage we had seen so much in the way of rural history and we are both very uninterested in planes. We had a look at the grand old railway station. It was a beauty. The wheat silos were enormous.
There were more great old pubs including the Terminus Hotel. The original hotel was built in 1893 and it was renovated in 1924.
The first pub in Temora was the Westminster built in 1882. It may have had another name originally.
After checking out the Station we drove to the Centenary Lake which was 4km from town. It was a good spot where the community can water ski. There was also a V8 boat track. I didn’t think to get any photos. Went back to the van to relax.
The next morning we hitched up and drove into town and took a walk, checked out the buildings and had a coffee.
Then headed off to West Wyalong.
