Junee

After a nice breakfast and walk at Bethungra Dam we left for another short trip of about 35km to Junee. We checked out the Golf Club for camping. They do $25 a night power and water, but $20 for CMCA members. It was ok but we thought we would checkout the van park which had a little lake. Should have rung because we did not get a spot by the lake anyway. So I was kicking myself a bit about not staying at the golf club. Anyway, such is life. We were ready to slow down a bit so we decided to stay two nights. After setup we took a drive around town and checked out a free camp 6km away but were not keen on it. Did some shopping and then went to the Chocolate Factory. I could not believe the number of people that were going through the place. It was packed and most of it would have been touring trade. Cootamundra & Bethungra Dam

Saturday the 28 th September and by mid morning we finished our coffees and our tour of Young and headed off to Cootamundra. It was only a 50 km trip. We went straight to the Information Centre which also houses the Heritage Centre. It was the former quarters for railway staff. The tourism people had done a good job as they turned the building in to a Heritage Centre, or in other words, a museum. I have seen better museums but it was worth the visit and gold coin donation. When we finished at the Info Centre a train pulled into Cootamundra Railway Station. Okay it is not a spectacular event but the timing was good for us and the old station platform has been there since the 1876. It is very different from a suburban train on a suburban platform.
